The project is aimed at suplying electricity to neighboring provinces.
Bisotoun Thermal Power Plant is the only elecricity generation plant in Kermanshah, Which is located on kilometer 25 of Kermanshah-Hamedan Road and 5 kilometers from the historical city of Bisotoun.
Built over an area of 1,300 hectares, Bisotoun power plant was built in two phases in 2004. The first phase includes two steam units, each with a nominal capacity of 320 MW.
The power plant's development is one of the most important projects ratified by the cabinet during the peresidental trip to Kermanshah province in 2006. The current project will be implemented in two phases.
With the completion of both the phases of this power plant, the total nominal capacity of the Bisotoun olant will reach 1,300 MW.
The surplus electricity generated by this power plant will be exported to Iraq.
The executor of project was selected on December 4,2006.
The financial and technical aspects of the project were discussed with Tehran Electricity Development Organization.
The Azarab consortium won the tender and signed an agreement on june 20,2007.
After preliminary negotiations,the contract was signed on Octobre 7,2007.The consortium is presenly making preparations for implementing the Bisotoun Thermal Power plant project.
